Farah Ahamed

Farah Ahamed is the editor of Period Matters: Menstruation in South Asia, published by Pan Macmillan India in 2022. Book Riot notes it as ‘an essential book about the female body that dispels misconceptions.’ In 2022, Farah was selected as one of the FT’s women of the year for her work in breaking the stigma around menstruation. Farah and her sisters co-founded a charity, Panties with Purpose, focused on period poverty. Since 2011, 70,000 pairs of underpants have been distributed to 17,000 girls across Kenya. Farah also writes essays and short fiction. Her work has been published in Ploughshares, White Review, Masachusetts Review, Markaz Review, LARB amongst others.
