Inviting stories in creative nonfiction that explore the subject of translation, in and beyond language. We are particularly curious about these areas:

• What does it mean to translate intergenerational learning, grief, anger. What knowledge lives in our bones, and how do we articulate, and translate it? 
• Are there some things best left untranslated, when might translation be more extractive than bridging? 
• In what language do we understand and translate ecology, stories of the land, cultural folklore? 
• What are the power mechanics of translation? When and how are they resourced and who decides what may be translated, by whom, and for what audience. 
• What makes translation feminist and/or decolonial? Can translations into languages of the colonizer ever be decolonial?

This call is open to creative nonfiction, essays, interviews, reviews and photo essays. Submissions must be under 2000 words, not including references or citations. When sharing photos or artwork please ensure they are in high resolution (with the exception of historical photos). All photos and artwork must include source credits. Selected pieces will be paid $50 USD, or the equivalent in local currency, and published on the platform.
