Eeman Ali

Eeman is a writer and researcher who recently completed an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies at the University of Oxford, where her dissertation explored the distinct social, cultural, and political dynamics of Gulf migrants through the lens of Pakistanis in the UAE. Prior to this, she completed her BA in International Studies at the American University of Sharjah. Her research interests broadly include migration, identity, citizenship, nationalism, and digital and diaspora politics, with a regional focus on South Asia and the Gulf. Her work attends to the structural conditions shaping migrants’ ties to their homeland and hostland in the context of precarity in the Gulf. Outside academia, she writes personal reflections on the world and her experiences on Substack under the name snoopstack.
